Full Issue Scans

I try to keep myself away from most fan-art. I don't want to run into anyone's fan-character or general fan-idea and accidentally use it some time down the road. I do browse for specific characters on occasion, though, to get a feel of if they're popular or not. Mammoth Mogul during the "Mogul Rising" arc? Not so much. Scourge during the "Bold New Moebius" arc? You betcha - lots!

Something that I come across from time to time, though, is full issue scans. I wouldn't begrudge a favorite page, but there's some folks who have the whole thing online. Sometimes it's out of praise, sometimes it's for others to read. Good intentions or not, that's illegal. You are breaking the law. And I hate to be the bad guy, but you're stealing from me. Every scanned comic is that many less purchased copies, which makes it ever more possible the book will be canceled. Then I'm out of a job and you don't get your Sonic comics.

So now I have to browse through DA every so often to see if I can find these pirated comics and let the moderators know. I'm also supposed to tell the legal defense team at Archie Comics - the scary lawyer types. Account suspension is the least of your worries if you're providing full scans.

Since I'm only one guy and the DA mods have enough on their plate as is, I'm asking anyone and everyone else for a little help. I don't mean a full-on witch hunt - I don't need an online gestapo or anything - but it'd be nice if someone other than me was reporting these thieves. Don't even make a big deal about it; contact the mods or send me a Note and I'll look into it.

Every online scan we keep from getting out helps to keep the comic prosperous, and that means more Sonic goodness for you.
